Using AI in Our Workflows as Translators and Interpreters in Education (11:00 AM MT, 1.5 hours)
This session explores the integration of AI in the workflows of translators and interpreters in educational settings, highlighting the significant evolution from Machine Translation (MT) to the broader applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). We will discuss the distinction between MT and AI, illustrating how AI tools extend beyond translation to support tasks like research, glossary creation, and workflow optimization. As we navigate through practical applications and maintaining professional integrity, participants will discover how to leverage these technologies while acknowledging the irreplaceable value of human insight. This journey from the historical shift in the late 1980s with the advent of MT and Translation Memory systems to the latest in AI applications underscores the importance of continuous adaptation and the unique contributions of professionals in enhancing translation quality, ensuring data privacy, and upholding the ethics of our profession.
