CINDY VARGAS RIVERA

Interest Statement:

I first joined AAITE in January 2023 and used that year to become familiar with the organization, its members, and its leadership. I had the opportunity to connect with fellow AAITE members at the ATA Conference in Miami that same year, which further deepened my interest in the association’s work. By February 2024, I felt ready to take a more active role in the association, especially with Edu-Con 2024 taking place just minutes from my home. Since then, I have served on the Best Practices Committee (February 2024–July 2025), the Communications Committee (February 2024–present), and the Events Committee (February 2024–present). Through this work, I have collaborated with fellow AAITE members on the development of best practices documents for multiple stakeholders, supported planning efforts for Edu-Cons 2024–2026 and Edu-Series events, and contributed to ongoing communications initiatives for the association. These experiences have given me a deeper understanding of AAITE’s mission and operations, and I feel prepared to take the next step by contributing at the board level to support the association’s continued growth and impact. Thank you for your consideration.

EVA H. VARGAS

 Interest Statement:

I am self-nominating for the Communications Director position. I am deeply committed to AAITE’s mission and have been actively involved since its earliest meetings. My contributions in graphic design reflect that commitment—the ITE logo was my creation, and I’m proud to see how it helped shape AAITE’s current visual identity. AAITE has made meaningful progress toward its initial goals, yet the urgency to professionalize interpreters in education remains. While my work so far has focused on design, I am ready to expand my role by developing communication strategies that can help move AAITE into its next phase. I am also committed to bringing in new and diverse voices to strengthen and sustain this work. Thank you, ~ Eva
